Leyland Kirby's copy of the St. Luke Passion is very unique. Although you can find many performances online, his version is unique in that it is in English. It was pressed by the Eroica Pressing Company. Only 50 copies remain in existence. Below you can find a recontruction not by me, but I used various other songs by Leyland to recreate it in higher quality. Lyrics are below.

The reconstruction of his copy.

Lyrics

Side A

Lord, beholding

Thy dread Passion

Borne for us for our salvation

We adore Thee on the tree (We adore Thee on the tree)

We adore Thee

We adore Thee on the tree

Sin and sorrow here find healing

Sin and sorrow here find healing

Lord, Lord

Thy wonderous love revealing

(Grant us peace, O) Grant us peace and life with Thee

Grant us peace and life with Thee, life with Thee

Now the feast of unleaven'd bread drew nigh

Which is called the Passover

And the chief priests and the scribes consulted

Seeking how they might kill Him

For they feared the people

Then Satan entered into Judas

Whose surname Iscariot

Being of the number of the twelve

And he went and commun'd with the chief priests and with the captains

How he might betray Him unto them

And they were glad and covenanted to give him money

And he promised, and sought opportunity

And betray Him unto them in the absence of the multitude

To Save Our Souls

From bitter shame and mourning

Thou dearest lord base treachery and scorning

From lure of gain or gold

Save us we pray to thee

Least we betray thee

And Jesus Came Out

And went as he was warned to the mount of Olives

And his disciples also followed him

And when he was at the place he said onto them

“Pray thee that thee enter not into temptation”

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

but deliver us from evil

And While He Yet Spake

Behold a multitude, And he that was called Judas

One of the 12 went before them

And drew near onto Jesus to kiss him

But Jesus said onto him

“Judas, betrayed thou the son of man with a kiss”

Forgive Us Lord Our Thespasses

as we forgive them that trespass against us

Then Jesus Said Onto The Chief Priests

And the captains of the temple

And the elders which were a come to him

“Be ye come out, as against a robber

with swords and with staves to take me

when I was daily with you in the temple

Yee stretched forth no hands against me

But this is your hour

And the power of darkness”

And took him they did

And led him

And brought him into the high priests house

And Peter followed upon forth

[Instrumental Break]

And The Men That Held Jesus

Mocked him and smote him

And when they had blindfolded him

They struck him on the face

And asked him in saying

Prophesy, who is he?

Who is he that smote Thee? (Prophesy, who is he?) (Prophesy, who is he?)

Prophesy, who is he? Who is he? (That smote Thee?)

Prophesy, who is he? (That smote Thee?)

Who is he that smote Thee? (That smote Thee, that smote Thee?)

And Many Other Things Spake They against him reviling him

And as soon as it was day the errors of the people assembled

For the chief priests and scribes together

And led him away into their council, saying

Art Thou the Christ? x4

Tell us, art Thou the Christ? x2

Art Thou the Christ? x3

Tell us, art Thou the Christ? X3

But He Said Unto Them

“If I tell you, he will not believe

And if I ask you, he will not answer me

Nor will he let me go

But from henceforth, shall the son of man be seated

And the right hand of the power of God”

Then said them all:

Art Thou The Son Of God? X7

And He Said Unto Them

“Thee say that I am”

Then said the elders

What, what need we any further witness?

What need we any further witness?

What need we any further witness, further witness? For we ourselves (For we ourselves)

Have heard for we ourselves (Have heard for we our) Selves have heard of His own mouth

What, what need we any further witness?

For we, we ourselves have heard (For we ourselves have heard of) His own mouth, have heard of His own mouth

And The Whole Company of them arose

And lead him onto Pilate

And they began to accuse him, saying

We have found this man (Perverting all our nation)

Perverting all our nation (And forbidding)

And forbidding to give tribute unto Caesar

And saying He Himself is Christ a King (He Himself is Christ a King) Saying He Himself is Christ a King

And Pilate Asked Him and said

“Aren’t thou the king of the jews?”

And he answered him

“Thou say yes”

Christ our Saviour, God, and King

We confess Thee

Thought the world no homage bring We would bless Thee

Help us now Thy praise to sing And adore Thee

Kneeling low before Thee

And Pilate Said to the chief priests and the multitude

“I find no fault in this man”

But they were the more urgent, and answered

He stirreth up the nation x2

He stirreth the nation throughout, teaching throughout Judea

Teaching throughout all Judea, throughout all Judea

Beginning from Galilee, from Galilee beginning

Beginning from Galilee unto this place

The Lamb Is Dumb before His shearer

In patient love His lips are sealed x2

In patient love His lips are sealed, in love

In patient love His lips are sealed

O teach us Lord, all wrath for bearing

Thy calm endurance

Thy calm endurance meekly sharing

For malice nought but love to yield x2

And Pilate, when he had call'd together the Chief Priests

And the rulers and the people, spake to them saying:

Ye have brought this Man unto me

As one that perverteth the people: And behold I have examin'd Him before you And have found no fault in this Man

Touching those things whereof ye accuse him

No, nor yet Herod: for he sent Him back unto us

And behold nothing worthy of death hath been done by Him

I will therefore chastise Him, and release Him

(For he must of necessity release one unto them at the Feast)

And they cried out all at once, and said:

Side B

Away, away with this man

Away with this man, away

And release Barabbas, Barabbas, Barabbas release!

Away with this man, with this man Away, away with this man and release (Unto us) Barabbus, Barabbus, Barabbus release unto us

And Pilate spake onto them yet again

Desiring to release Jesus

But they all shouted, saying

Crucify Him x10

And Pilate said the third time unto them:

Why, what evil hath this man done?

I have tried Him and found no cause of death in Him; I will therefore chastise Him, and release Him

But they were all instant with loud voices Requiring that He might be crucified

And the voices of them and of the Chief Priests prevailed

And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required

And there were also two others, malefactors led with Him, to be crucified with Him And when they came to the place which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him

And the malefactors with Him, one on the right hand, and the other on the left

Then Jesus said:

Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do

And Parting His Garments among them, that cast the lots

And the people stood beholding

And the rulers also with them derided him and said

He hath saved x2

Let Him save Himself if He be Christ x2

If he be Christ the chosen of God

He hath saved others, let Him save Himself

Let Him save Himself if He be Christ If He be Christ the chosen of God

And The Soldiers Also Mocked Him

Coming to him and offering him vinegar and saying

If Thou be King, the King of Judah

If Thou be King of Judah, save Thyself, save Thyself if Thou be King If Thou be the King of Judah save Thyself

If Thou be the King, if Thou be King of Judah

And A Superscription also was written over him

In letters of Greek and of Latin and in characters of Hebrew

This is the king of the jews x2

O Sacred head, sore wounded

Defiled and put to scorn;

O Kingly head surrounded

With mocking crown of thorn:

What sorrow mars Thy grandeur?

Can death Thy bloom deflower?

O Countenance whose splendour The hosts of Heaven adore

One Of The Malefactors also, which were crucified with him

Railed on him and said

“If thou be the christ, then save they self from us”

But the others answering, rebuked him and said

Dost not even thou fear God seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed with justice, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; But this Man has done nothing amiss

And he said unto Jesus:

Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom

And Jesus said unto him:

Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise

And It Was About The Sixth Hour and a darkness came all over the land until the ninth hour

And the light of the sun was darkened and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst

And when jesus had cried with a loud voice he said

“Father, into they hands, I commend my spirit”

And having said thus, he give up the ghost

Dear Lord, beneath Thy Cross I bow

Thou art indeed my saviour now;

Thy life for me is freely given

Oh by Thy Cross

Bid me to rise with Thee to Heaven

O Jesu Christ

Thy Cross doth call me

O Jesu Christ

Thy Cross doth call me

For thou did'st give

Thy life for mine

Thou did'st give

Thy life, for mine

O Jesu Christ

Thy Cross doth call me

For Thou did'st give

Thy life for mine

Jesu Christ, Jesu Christ

O Jesu Christ

Thy Cross doth call me

For Thou did'st give

Thy life for mine

For Thou did'st give

Thy life, for mine

Thy Sacred Heart

For me is breaking

Thy Sacred Heart

For me is breaking

For Thee my love at last is waking

For Thee, my love is waking

My life for ever more be thine x2

It is finished, Lord of Mercy;

Thou hast suffered,

Thou hast died To the Cross

Thy love hath brought

Thee For Thy people crucified

Thou dost for our sins atone;

Trust we in Thy Cross alone

Strive we never more to grieve

Thee In our hearts we now receive Thee

It is finished, Lord of Spirits

Death must now yield up his prize;

Thou hast conquered, nought can hold

Thee From the grave in triumph rise;

To Thy Father's Throne ascend

There Thy loved ones to befriend;

Here with food eternal feed us

To the Heavenly pastures lead us

It is finished, Lord of Glory

Joy doth fill our hearts again

For blest Saviour, Thou dost call us

Up to Heaven with Thee to reign

Leaving things of earth and time

Seek we heavenly joys sublime

Joys all human thought transcending Joys supernal and unending!
