Hello and welcome to the singles and mixes page for The Caretaker alias. Some of these albums and songs will be discussed on other pages but I care about this one for now.

Our first single is titled Reflection from the V/Vm compilation album "Hate You". It samples Deep Purple by Jeese Crawford from the album "The Best Of Jesse Crawford".

Our next song is Music Maestro Please from the compilation album "Zatsu Ongaku". It is a slowed and bitcrushed version of Music Maestro Please by Jack Hylton Taken from the album "The Band That Jack Built."

Lyrics

A table near the band

A small one

Some cigarettes, a drink

Yes, a tall one

And, waiter, I could use

A chaser for my blues

Tonight I mustn't think of her

Music, maestro, please!

Tonight

Tonight I must forget

How much I need her

So, Mister Leader

Play your lilting melodies

Ragtime, jazztime, swing

Any old thing

To help me ease the pain

That solitude can bring

She used to like waltzes

So please don't play a waltz

She danced divinely

And I loved her so

But there I go

Tonight I mustn't think of her

No more memories

Swing out

Tonight I must forget

Music, maestro, please

Next up is We'll All Go Riding On A Rainbow the single from "Past, Present, Forever". The original song is We'll All Go Riding On A Rainbow by Maurice Winnick from the album "And The Bands Played On".

Lyrics

Sing brothers and sing sisters

We're all leaving today

and we'll all go riding on a rainbow

To a new land far away

Get started, be lighthearted, there's no time for delay

and we'll all go riding on a rainbow

To a new land far away

Everyone playing in the sun

without a worry or care

Children dancing through fields of daises

with rosebuds in their hair

Oh, Sing brothers and sing sisters

We're all leaving today

and we'll all go riding on a rainbow

To a new land far away

The cover art is this

TMK This cover art was sourced from this image on the internet.

Next up is Recollections From Old London Town using the same image as it's cover art. This album has some unreleased song in it not heard anywhere else, so let's get into that.

Songs used are: Deleted Scenes Forgotten Dreams Part 3, Unreleased Memory (2009), Unreleased Memory (1998), Cerebral Hemorrage (discussed earlier), Memory 82, London Town You Haunt Me Night And Day (Outtake), Von Restoff Effect, Unmasking Alzheimer's (Unreleased Mix), In The Swing Of Things (Outtake), and Kirkbymoorside.

Unreleased Memory 1998 samples the song Everyday Away From You by The Four Bright Sparks (0:05 - 0:46) taken from the album "The Golden Age Of British Dance Bands.

Unreleased Memory 2009 is a very simple song, using Dear Lord Beneath Thy Cross I Bow and O Jesu Christ from from Leyland's rare St. Luke Passion record

Unmasking Alzheimer's Unreleased Mix is the same as the regular song but in reverse... Listen here.

In The Swing Of Things can be listened to without modification here It's a slowed down version of Cornsilk by Geraldo (0:00 - 1:21) It is taken from the "Hits Of WW2" album, meaning it's an outtake from Persistent Repetition Of Phrases.

London Town You Haunt Me Night And Day can be heard without modification here It samples London Town You Haunt Me by Stanley Holloway It uses (1:21 - 2:42) and loops 4 times. As you can by sampling a song from "Highlights Of The Co-optimists" it's an outtake from Persistent Repetiton Of Phrases.

London Town You Haunt Me Night And Day Lyrics

[London town, london town

London town you haunt me night and day

London town, london town

Far from you, I’m never safe!] x8

Our next release shall be Fact Mix 45 The 45th mix made for FACT magazine (or the website). The last part is interesting doe, as it samples Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye by Joe Loss It comes from the "Hits Of WW2" album.

Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye Lyrics

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye

Cheerio, here I go on my way

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye

With a tear, not a fear, make it gay

Give me a smile I can keep for a while

In my heart while I’m away

Till we meet, once again, you and I

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye

Next up I have Stale Dusk Vibrations from "Exercises In Obscurism". It probably samples something but no one knows.

Next up is Black Box Warning (MSR990 Memories Mix) It samples Black Box Warning 1 by Plagued Recordings

Next up is Can't Get To Heaven That Way from the album "Songs From The Basement Volume 4". It samples You Can't Get To Heaven That Way by Noble Sissle from the album "The Golden Age Of British Dance Bands".

Can't Get To Heaven That Way Lyrics

If you're good on Sunday, raising the devil on Monday

You can't get to heaven, You can't get to heaven that way

You got one gal, two, and another gal on Wednesday

You can't get to heaven, You can't get to heaven that way

If you like me like I like you, we gonna see the light

Cause I want your arms, and I want your lips and I want em every night

Come on and cuddle, come on and shout Hallelujah

You can't get to heaven, You can't get to heaven that way

Well I get shoes and you got shoes (all that you got shoes)

When I get to heaven gonna put on a shoe (You can't get to heaven that way)

Well I got a roll and you got a roll (all that you got roll)

When I get to heaven gonna strut with the roll (You can't get to heaven that way)

Well I got a song and you got a song (all that you got song)

When I get to heaven gonna shout my song (You can't get to heaven that way)

Well I got wings and you got wings (all that you got wings)

When I get to heaven gonna put fly with the wings (You can't get to heaven that way)

Say I can't get to heaven this way? No!

Can't get to heaven this way?

Gonna hate you young brother!

Next up is this performance. The Caretaker Live At Mutek 2010 I'm not sure what songs are used here, but I can tell you a few I recognize. There's a lot s/t leyland kirby songs in here, one I can identify is "A Longing To Be Absorbed For A While Into A Different And Beautiful World" from Sadly The Future Is No Longer What It Was, we have a unique song that samples the same song used in memory 12 (go to the tpaa page for info on that), Memory 10 is used, Isolated Lights On The Abyss Of Ignorance is used, A Stairway To The Stars (the song) is used, after that is a V/Vm song, that melody is The Way We Were by Barbra Streisand, but the exact artist I'm not sure.

After that we have an An Empty Bliss Beyond This World outtake. End Detections It samples Boulevard Of Breaks Dreams by Hal Kemp (0:00 - 0:23) and loops 6 times. It was featured on the Ad Hoc Compilation.

Info about Fleeting Dreams and Their Story Is Lost has been moved to this page

How about this mix, The BBC Radio Mix which uses: End Detections (hey we just talked about that), unreleased memory (9), Memory 28 without the reversed instance, But The Stars Had Come Out, The Quilter Standard, Camaraderie At Arms Length (Remembered Differently), the outtake from Patience, and A Stairway To The Stars by No. 1 Balloon Centre Dance Orchestra taken from the "Hits Of WW2" album.

You may listen to 2 of these songs in isolation, Camaraderie At Arms Length (Remembered Differently) which uses the same sample as the regular song but instead uses the section from (0:58 - 1:45) and loops 3 times instead of 6. The other is the outtake from patience which is just a shorter and looped version of Sebald (the song) in Extra Patience.

Lyrics

Let’s build a stairway to the stars

And climb that stairway to the stars

With love besides us, just like a beautiful song

We’ll hear the sound of violins

Hear onto where the bloom begins

The moon will guide us as we go drifting along

Can’t we sail away on a lazy daisy pattern

Over the wind of the hills

Can’t we sail away on a little dream

And settle high on the crest of a dream

Let’s build a stairway to the stars

A lovely stairway to the stars

It would be heaven to climb to heaven with you

The footage beings with Leyland lip syncing to an extended version of It's Just A Burning Memory, and then it goes into more stage 5 layers. A unique song does play in these stage 5 layers however, Lullaby Of The Leaves by Adrian Schubert which uses (0:14 - 1:24) Other songs used include: Reckless Night, Robins & Roses, All That Follows Is True, Stardust (at the end), All You Are Going To Want To Do Is Get Back There, The Great Hidden Sea Of The Unconscious, an unreleased song (10), An Empty Bliss Beyond This World 1, an unreleased song (4), an unreleased song (27), Libet's Delay, a unscrambled extended version of Camaraderie At Arms Length plays at one point, Sublime Beyond Loss, The Loves Of My Entire Life, an unreleased song (28), Internal Bewildered World, A Last Glimpse Of The Land Being Lost Forever, In The Deep And Dark Hours Of The Night, Increasingly Absorbed In His Own World, Now The Night Is Over And The Dawn Is About To Break, But The Stars Had Come Out, an unreleased song (1), aun unreleased song (2), an unreleased song (3), an unreleased song (13), an unreleased song (18), Glimpses Of Life Denial, an unreleased song (26, and this time scrambled), Mournful Camaraderie, Glimpses Of Hope In Trying Times, Quiet Dusk Coming Early, Last Moments Of Pure Recall, The Way Ahead Feels Lonely, an unreleased song (14), an unreleased song (16), an unreleased song (25), and an unreleased song (31). Next up are some exerpts from an art gallery for Ivan Seal. This first recordings begins with The Great Hidden Sea Of The Unconscious, then there's a part that uses the layer of All You Are Going To Want To Do Is Get Back There and An Empty Bliss Beyond This World, then some trumpets still unknown to this day, then a part that uses Libet's Delay, then it plays unreleased song (30) unmodified, as well as some excerpts from Benjamin Beyond Bliss, then a unique song plays, here's a recreation it samples I Used To Love You by Charlie Spivak and uses (0:15 - 0:40) in the video. And the last part uses a part of Dear Lord Beneath Thy Cross I Bow which I discussed earlier. This isn't it doe, as various other clips have been leaked as well. Here's a compilation I made of these clips It begins with that All You Are Going To Want To Do Is Get Back There and An Empty Bliss Beyond This World, then a scrambled version of Libet's Delay, just unreleased song (18) scrambled, a clip I'm not sure what it uses but I think it contains Mean To Me by Charlie Spivak , and then a part of the st. luke passion, then a part that uses Blue Lou by Charlie Spivak it uses (0:52 - 1:02). Recreation here , then that unreleased memory + Benjamin Beyond Bliss again, then a part that uses Blue Lou I think, then that mix again, and the last clip uses Blue Champagne by Charlie Spivak part used is at (1:13 - 1:24). Here's my recreation (part used at 1:42 - 1:57)

Our next track is a audio file that appears on an official art gallery page for Ivan Seal. I dub this song The Marimba Song due to sampling 3 songs by the Imperial Marimba Band (all sourced from USCB Cylinder Archive) The main melody is Serenade D'amour around 1:45 into the track, The Crocodile begins playing in the background. Around 3 minutes in: Love Nest Medley begins playing.

Next up is the 2019 Mix It begins with an unreleased original song, then we have a unique unreleased caretaker song, which you can listen to here it's moreso an extended and unpitchmapped version of Sublime Beyond Loss, it uses (0:14 - 3:23) of Stardust by Charlie Spivak, coindentaly ending where Sublime Beyond Loss begins, then we get 2 unique stage 5 layers (songs they use I'm unsure) and we end with Gone Forever by Roy Fox .

Next up is the Primavera live performance It begins with an original Leyland song mixed with some other songs, then a unique layer that scrambles Late Afternoon Drifting and The Quilter Standard, then a scene from the shining where Jack orders drinks from Lloyd, then then many stage 5 layers, then I Might Be Vanishing, then a unique song that samples You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby by Russ Morgan recreation here. Then Lullaby Of The Leaves by Reginal King plays. Then But The Stars Had Come Out plays, then What Do You Know About Love by Russ Morgan plays, then a part of I Guess I Expected Too Much by Wayne King plays, then Of Grace And Providence plays, then a part that plays unreleased songs (28) & (31) plays (scrambled), then a part that samples Cradle Song by James Scott Skinner taken from the USCB Cylinder archive. Song recreation here. Then Plaque Advanced Despair plays, and the performance ends with the part that plays 15 minutes into Place In The World Fades Away. Also, apparently during some of the layers, 2 unique songs plays, All For You And Happiness by Paul Whiteman and Avalon & Just Like A Gypsy by Paul Whiteman .

Last up is the 2024 "Ghosts Of My Life" live performance The first song played is not part of it. After Leyland talks, Heroes by Motorhead plays. Then Of Grace And Providence, then we get scrambled parts of Deleted Scenes Forgotten Dreams Parts 1 and 2 (which is used in stage 4 and 5 fyi), then we get a scrambled Libet's Delay, then we hear a scene from "the shining" when Jack orders drinks from Lloyd, while this happens, All You Are Going To Want To Do Is Get Back There and a stage 5 layer plays, Plaque Advanced Despair is in this layer, then a slowed down version of Goodnight My Beautiful by Russ Morgan (full thing) plays, then unreleased memory (11) plays unscrambled which is a surprise, then And Heart Breaks plays, then All You Are Going To Want To Do Is Get Back There plays again, then unreleased memory (28) plays unscrambled which is also a surprise, then Mournful Camaraderie plays, then Midnight Cowboy by Johnny Mathis plays, then a part of Advanced Plaque Entanglements 2 plays, then a performance of Midnight Cowboy by The Poly High School Band . And here is my recreation of how it sounds here.

One more song I forgot to add, one day around 2022 ish, Leyland uploaded a song called We Are In The Shadow Of A Distant Fire to his official "vvmtest" channel. It was unlisted about a month later. The song loops the part of the st. luke passion vinyl used in "We Cannot Escape The Past" 10 times. The image here is "room 808" by Ivan Seal.
